MIST is also a national 501(c) non-profit that is well-established on the East Coast and recently came to the West. We are finally starting it here in Northern California. From existing regional tournaments, we have seen a great deal of development among the youth as well as a renewed sense of unity.
TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:
With the Muslim Interscholastic Tournament (MIST) officially in Northern California. It is time for high school students to show the world what they are made of. It’s time for our long hidden talents to be displayed for all to see; to let our writers paint with their pens: to let our artists speak with brushes; to let our debaters command the English language. We are masters of knowledge, so let us compete with it.
The Muslim Interscholastic Tournament (MIST) is a tournament for youth between the ages of 14 to 18 that involves competitions from 6 categories: Knowledge and Qur’an, Writing and Literature, Arts, Brackets (such as debate, math olympics), Group Projects (business ventures, improv, etc.), and Sports. The purpose of these competitions is to allow for high school students to cultivate their various talents with reference to their greater Ummah. It also serves to connect high school students with an irreplaceable network that will continue to foster their success into college.
