Director of Human Resources
The Director of Human Resources oversees personnel management, conflict resolution, compliance, and training across the organization. This role ensures that MIST maintains a professional, safe, and well‑supported volunteer environment.
Official Start Date: September 1st, 2026
(A 3-month transition period with the outgoing Director will precede the starting date)
Key Responsibilities
Incidents
Monitor and respond to submissions through the MIST Incident Report form
Support timely resolution of interpersonal issues across all levels of the organization
Ensure parties have attempted direct resolution before escalation
Maintain incident records and share with authorized parties when requested
Address legal concerns in collaboration with the Executive Director and/or attorney
Hiring
Oversees hiring process of National Leadership team roles
Advise National Directors on hiring practices as needed
Conduct live interviews for National Director candidates
Oversee onboarding and offboarding procedures for all personnel
Create and deactivate GSuite and Slack accounts for MIST personnel
Maintain MIST role directory
Support Regional Director selection processes when requested
Compliance
Track contract signing and completion of all compliance trainings and disclosures for all MIST organizers and staff (volunteers, speakers, judges, coaches) within established timelines
Collect Peer Review forms from all regions post-tournament
Maintain and update compliance trainings and Code of Conduct
Develop and manage the annual background check process
Training
Oversee the Head of Learning & Development creating professional development curricula
Coordinate with external institutions to provide certifications to MIST organizers
Collaborate with Tournament Operations to plan and execute the annual MIST Leadership Summit
Qualifications
Cannot hold a concurrent MIST organizing role (must step down if selected)
Minimum 2 years of MIST organizing experience
Preferable background in Human Resources or familiarity with compliance, policy enforcement, or personnel processes
Experience in conflict resolution and professional communication; able to maintain confidentiality
Experience managing a team of leads and coordinators
Interregional communication experience is a plus
Commitment to organizational stewardship, including supporting ELT peers and participating in broader strategic discussions beyond assigned responsibilities
Ability to dedicate 10 - 15 hours/week
