Head of Spirit and Culture
The Head of Spirit and Culture fosters spirit, culture, and connection throughout the year. This individual works closely with the Director of Programs on big-picture functional items, while maintaining a specific scope of the spirit and culture side of MIST. They will oversee the launch of peer-to-peer programs like MIST Buddies, mentorship initiatives, and a standardized spirit points system, creating opportunities for meaningful competitor engagement. They will support regions in creating a fun and exciting MIST environment, work with reps to implement new initiatives, and collect engagement data to improve programming.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement peer-to-peer programming
Oversee the launch of peer connection program, “MIST Buddies” and work with regional representatives to implement it across the organization.
Develop a mentorship program for alumni, organizers, and competitors.
Potential to develop and lead a team of coordinators focused on these projects.
Facilitate MIST “spirit”
Initiate organization-wide standardized spirit points and reward system, in collaboration with regional representatives.
Review and recommend spirit sessions, games, and activities to regional counterparts.
Collect and synthesize feedback from organizers and competitors, and coordinate with program team members to ensure spirit remains part of the schedule across tournaments.
Qualifications
Not currently engaged in a regional MIST role.
Understanding of MIST culture, values, and tournament structure.
Ability to create and/or lead initiatives related to mentorship, peer support, or community engagement.
A minimum of 2 years of experience as a MIST organizer, preferably spirit, programs, or experience.
Availability to commit 3-5 hours/week, more during regional planning period (typically Dec-Mar)
